I’m going to take a detour. So I’ve been giving you the back story of how I met my husband. I’ve been teetering back and forth taking you from my dating story to having a baby and navigating life without my family. But now I want fast forward a little bit. You’re going to still get the dating story that led to marriage, because that story is WILD.
I’ve always been somewhat private. But I LOVE to share what God has done for me or even brought me through. So this ride is going to be different.
I’ve been a wife for seven years now and it’s about time that I start talking about wife life.
It’s so crazy how time has passed by. I have beat myself up so much because I haven’t been writing. It’s on my heart everyday to write. And if you’re reading this please pray for my help in being consistent. Let me tell you, when God wants you to do a thing, just trust that the obstacles are coming. I’ve had to pray and repent so much because I know I have not been obedient. The other day I was asking God for something, you know how we do, and He spoke to me and said, “you would have it if you would be obedient” and I thought to myself, I’m slowing down my blessing because I’m not being consistent. Since the last time I wrote a blog, someone asked me “when are you going to start back writing?” I had no idea that person was even reading what I wrote! It doesn’t matter how small you think your skill, talent, gift, or testimony is, because there’s someone out there that can and will benefit from what you have say or even how you live your life.
Let me tell you why I do this. One, it really just came to me one day to do it. I didn’t think to do it to gain popularity or likes. I just wanted to tell someone, whoever would listen or read that God is who He says He is. And the way I know how to do that best, is to tell people what I went through or even what I’m going through, and how He fixed it for me. How I made it. God really is fascinating to me, like I mean it’s really just unexplainable in a way. I have so many words right now just filling up my heart because I’m trying to describe how God has changed my life, how He continues to change me, How he allows things to happen that only HE can change or fix or DO. I want to scream right now lol.
We are all going through something. If you’re not now then you will. If you’re a believer then you will. It’s how He transforms us. We cannot be true warriors without training. That’s a quote I got from Cindy Trimm, so I can’t take credit for it. But anyway if you are His child, called and chosen then He’s going to take you through training.
I went through training before I got married. I was actually trained to be a wife. I already know, you’re asking yourself “how”? Well I felt like I was in training growing up. I heard all the time, “you need to learn how to cook, so you can feed your husband… you need to be able to keep a clean house so your your husband can come home to a clean home, you need to keep yourself up so your husband can be proud… “don’t sweep her feet or she not gone get married” and so on and so on. If you heard one of these husband quotes growing up, please share yours. But anyway, my parents raised a jewel. Yes I said that about myself. They raised someone who loved the Lord, they raised a God fearing girl who did in fact want a loving godly family. They raised someone who was focused on pleasing God rather than indulging in her own worldly desires and pleasures. That doesn’t mean I didn’t indulge a time or two… or three but we gone get to that later.
A WIFE… I was a wife when he married me.
Proverbs 31 is the example I read over and over about how to be a wife and what kind of wife I should be. But when I read that whole chapter I was like. “So God you want me to do all that?” Then I thought, if I’m not like her am I still a good wife? This was the main question I had when I first got married.
If you’re a godly single woman, you’re already a wife. You’re just waiting to get married. Waiting for Him, like the Bible says “to find a wife (you), and obtain favor from the Lord”. If you’re following Christ and obeying Him and His commandments, living a repentant life, then you are qualified.
So as far as Mrs Proverbs 31 goes. This lady was the epitome of a wife worth bragging about. I quickly learned though that my life couldn’t look exactly like hers. I had to do all I could do, and do it to the best of my ability and that’s what I had to focus on. I was comparing myself to her but failing miserably because I was literally trying to keep up with her. This will make sense after while, although I hope you’re getting an understanding now. I always like to give real life examples to back up what I’m saying. So remember when I asked God was I good wife? I didn’t get an answer. Well I didn’t get the answer right away. I got the answer seven years later.
Yes no lie, this is not an exaggeration. It really took that long. Remember I don’t write for likes or attention. I don’t write to call people out. I write for God to get the glory, the credit, for you to see God’s work and to learn from it. To inspire you and encourage you and ultimately w increase your Faith in God, because then you too will see that if He does it for me, He will no doubt do it for you. I share what He’s done because it’s the truth and the truth sets you FREE.
Yeah so here it is, seven years later I found out what kind of wife I really am. I’ve been married seven years and the whole time I actually thought I was a good wife. Turns out, I was wrong.
